About Christine

The Daily Christine PFP 2_edited.jpg

Christine is an illustrator based in Perth, Western Australia, currently making her way into children’s picture books.

Her earliest memory of drawing was at the age of five. When she tried to copy a building her dad had sketched. Since then, she has been fascinated with communicating with pictures.

Her work is inspired by films, picture books, that late-afternoon golden hour light, little rituals and routines, dogs being dogs, humans being humans. The quiet and the ordinary moments. An older sister tying her little brother’s shoelace. A dog waiting by the door. Kids backstage cheering on their friend. The little moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. That's the kind of magic she hopes to bring into picture books one day.

In April 2026, Christine won the inaugural Darley Anderson Illustration Mentorship Prize and is currently working with agent Lorna Hemingway to build out her portfolio. Alongside that, she works as a graphic designer by day, making pictures of her own by night.

She lives in Perth with her husband and their dog Luca, who’s basically appointed himself creative director at this point. When she’s not drawing, you can find her rewatching an animated film for the tenth time, walking Luca, or wandering into a coffee shop for her third coffee of the day (maybe!).

A few fun facts:

  • Most of her work starts with something analogue: coloured pencils, gouache, oil pastels and a very messy desk.

  • She speaks three languages: Mandarin, Tagalog and English.

  • Always happy to talk about films and TV shows, especially animated ones she’s watched far too many times. She even named her dog after the Pixar film Luca.

  • Will never say no to Korean food. Or food in general, really. And dogs. Both subjects are her dream projects to draw (on top of children's stories!)
